Last post
Ok, I must confess that I was forced to take this subject, and wasn`t pleased to do it because I`m in the last years of my career and didnt know that I had to take English, so I went to Simon taked the test and fell here. As I say before I wasn`t pleased to take an English subject, in school it was very boring and I didn`t learned a thing so I thought it would be similar here. I was wrong, the teacher is good and maybe a bit to positive but it was a good experience. Most of what I had learned of this language was by "osmosis". I like to read (book and comic) and play video games and most of things are in English or translated in English so I just began to read things in English, I know Dutch so learning another language is a bit easier. Later in the university most of the things we must read are in English, most of things in Antropology and Arqueology aren`t translated so if you don`t understand you are good as dead. Here my English was polished. Because most of my contact with the language is written my speaking was poor, ok maybe it`s still poor but it doesn`t sound so awful as when I started this subject. Also I improved my writting skills, despite I read much my spelling is terrible despite the language I`m writing, Spanish, Dutch, English it doesn`t matter I make a lot of spelling mistakes. As I say earlier I have improved but that doesn`t mean that I have mastered something. In that sence the exercise of written in this blog has accomplished to some degree it purpose. Now I can write with some degree of dignity not only here but also on reddit, sometimes a post sometimes a replie. In the end it was a good experience despite I didn`t have much faith in this. It was a nice detour.

Some Thoughts regard my career
Thinking in the study programme of my career (archaeology) and career it`s give me ambivalents feelings. They are think that I frankly love and others that I just hate with everything I have.
I like the atmosphere of the people of my career -the teachers and student- usually it`s very relaxed but in the last year or few years it had changed a bit, now they are more students that they ever where, most of them are crybabys and have broughts with them a lot of stress, they have changed some of the most relaxed and flexible -in terms of managing times- teachers in a monster of puntuality and inflexibility. It`s a bit sad but maybe I`m overreacting and it`s just a particular or two generations that are so, and with time things will be back.
If we think in the curruculum I like that we have common years with anthropology, in our context of work it happen that we not only work with dead contexts but with a living context, with "indeans" groups or local people, so our formation must have a high degree of social anthropology. Things that I don`t like about our subjects, it`s the focus of them, we have a lot`s of the subject prehistory, and I hate that, beginning with the name: there is not a thing called prehistory, it`s ridiculous, there is not a thing before history. Second Chile is a long country, and it`s fair that we see what had happen with all the zones and culture even if we later don`t work with them. But I think that the focus in the subject prehistory shouldn`t be the exposition of things that have happen but how the archaeologist have thought in the prehistory of that place what methods they have used, how they interpreted the data obtained and constructed, how to read an article, searching for the logic behind it.
The reason behind this is that one forget easily what have happen, and the studies go fast, so in a short time the information you have is outdated. When the focus is more related to the metodology, logic and how the data is constructed it`s better, it`s harder to forget, and even if you forget it you know how to read, how to identify it with ease and that is more useful.
Other think that I love about my career are the "terrains" or fieldwork, you don`t have many of them but they are a very good experience, with pratice it`s easier to learn, to understand what you were reading, and it prepare you with your future job.

Holidays
Thinking in holiday most of times is a synonymous of thinking in things I would like to do. and that involves reading many books that i couldn´t read along the year like the diskworld serie or the sense of the human form Maturana. Other thing that I would do is playing some videogames that i couldn´t play like the witcher.
About places that I would like to visit I have no idea, but I think I would travel to the Quisco with my family as we do usually, go to de beach, other towns and cities around.
About working it depend, if it surges a terrain (field work in archeaology) I would go to the north for around 2-4 weeks, it will be tiring but also it will be fun and a good experience.

Thinking in people I would love to meet,I realise that most of that people are autors of books, and yes, most of them are dead. So let´s just talk about a one of them. About these that are dead I think that Oriana Fallaci has a special place somewhere in mine hear, maybe because in her book she is always there, you can read something that she had written and in a few pages if not inmediatly you know that it´s her doing even thought that iniatialy you didn´t know that what you where reading was made by her. I love how her writting style, it´s a very straigforwarth style, she doesn´t have hair in her tong when she write, she is sincere, and she can express perfectly what she is feeling. It´s a bit weird but you can feel what she is feeling. in one word her style is humanized, it´s like earth, you can touch it, feel it, eat it.
Jeje, I have only written about her style but nothing about her. She was born in Italy in 1929, when she was a child she helped the antifacist faction that her father was part. Later she become a journalist, she had written a lot about the war and later about the islam, her first works were about vietnam and the vietcong. She made a lot of interviews, most of her subjets were important people like Henry Kissinger, Golda Meir, Arafat, revolusionist, people that today we catalog as terrorists. Fallaci didnt only write articles, or about war, She write also novels some of them based in her own live and others were ficcion.
The first book I had read form her has "letter to a child never Born", the first time I had that book in mine hand I had 4-5 years, obviusly I couldn´t read it but the cover of that book was greepy and gave me goosebumbs, later when I learned how to read I had a first attemp but my mother took the book and hide it, she say that I was to young for that book and that I shouldn´t read it. things that are taboo ussualy have a sort of magnetic force, years later, I think I had 14 or 15 years I found it again without searching it. I don´t know if I can say that I loved or liked the book, It´s a excelent, schoking book and a "must to read" book, also is one of my favorite books. other of here work are "interview whith history", "the force of reason", "rage and pride" and many others.
Maybe I can´t meet her but I think that if one day I travel to Italy I would visit her tomb, and left some cigaretts.

thoughts about the work of an archaeologist
I`m studying archaeology, so the type of job is pretty obvious. How do myself proyect in that field is another thing. At Least in Chile you have two roads: academic research and environmental assessment. Although these fields aren`t exclusive between them in fact it`s difficult to work in both, first it`s a matter of time, and second usually working in environmental assessment here is it`s seein as if you were a mercenary so if you work in that sometimes it`s more difficult to later working in academic research. Okay I`m not talking about how the FONDESI affect this but is because it`s a matter to complicate.
About the work of an archaeologist, it`s diverse, you have field work (maybe the funniest part) you must working in a laboratory (in case you must review something so als ceramic, lithics, bones or microrest) and office work, maybe the most and tedious part but the most important. It`s important to say that tedious is not the same as boring, it`s tedious because the analysis in most of the cases ti`s must do with uttermost caution, and the design of research althought it can be fun it can be quit exhausting.
About me, most of the times I go to the North of our country, especialy in Guatacondo. laboratory work is not a thing i`m doing right now but i`m doing office work, in particular working with GIS.

elections
With the next municipal elections (there are held the next weekend) I question myself again if I should go vote. Ok, I question myself but I know that whatever reason against or in favor I elaborate nonetheless I will go. Why? It`s not because I think that mine vote will make a big change, nor because mine vote with others vote can make new things (okay maybe it`s do, okay more than belief I doubt, but let's move to other ideas or I will never finish this). If none candidate represent you, there isn't much sense in voting, and in that case not voting is a form of expressing that nobody represent you, but on the other hand not voting can also be interpreted as non-interest in politics. So why? Civil duty? yea, maybe that's a good reason, most of times one move by the force of duty, it's just a thing you must do, but more than that i think that the reason that move myself to vote it`s other: a historical reason. It's a right that was gained painfully, many people had to fight and die for that right, so i feel that not voting is just wasting that effort, it's a form of denial of that people. Other reason that usually helped was that my voting place was near my house, now it's changed, still near at hand, but not so close as my previous voting place.
About the qualities for running a public position I think that the most important is coherence, coherence between that they say, do, are. Maybe because that`s in what our politicians most fail. Respecting myself become a politician I think not, it`s not in mine plans, there are other forms of political actions such as assemblies where one can take part or make, democracy is more than just voting for the people that will gobern.

About the Preacher serie
let's start saying that I don`t have a favorite TV program and it`s not because I don`t like TV programs but it`s hard to define one or another so I will talk about the last TV program I had seen. The name of the program is “Preacher”, based in a comic with the same name published by DC comics, maybe it's a bit self explanatory but the program is about a preacher: Jesse Custer, who has adquired a power that allows him to defy the free will of people, because whatever he says in a specific tone it becomes a sort of command the person that hears him and must obey the command (most of the times they think that they have thought those ideas). Obviously he tried to use the power for good but sometimes the things don´t happen as he expects. About the other characters what can I say? most of them are well executed and contribute well to the program. Tulip O`Hare is Jesse`s ex and most of time tries to get him back by the excuse that they must finish a “job” (killing somebody, yep. our preacher isn`t the best example of a good preacher) and gift him doubts about been a preacher. Cassidy is a character I like a lot, he is a vampire, maybe a poor excuse of vampire, he is hidden Jesse`s church because he had done something and must hide, mostly he is used as a comic relief. Other characters you can see are the people of the town, and two angels that try to get back the power that Jesse got by accident because it`s too dangerous and defies the free will of people. About the show itself in the beginning it`s a bit hard to follow because they introduce many characters, concepts and if you didn`t read the comic you can feel a bit lost in the first episode, but latter you understand everything, also it has a good amount of comedy (sometimes a bit weird but still good) that don`t feel off.

about an interesting exhibition
Mmm, I think this time I will talk about
an exhibition I went in 2011. It was in the context of the educational
mobilization. The exhibition was held after a march in the center of Santiago,
and the truth is that I can`t remember well the name of the artists and an
exhibition in particular, but I liked the concept under that exhibition and
march. It was held on a Saturday and the exhibition was the in the ending point
of the march as a closing event, with the idea that a march is not intrinsically
violent, and can be an event where everybody could go, there were many children
and myself went with my older sister, some common friends and my little
brother (he was 9 years old). What more can I say? Despite my bad memory the
show was nice, you could sing most of the songs even thought you didn`t know
the lyrics beforehand because in most of the cases you learned them in the
way.

In this moment the only place it come into my mind is Nederland or Dutchland. Why would I want to go or return ( to be more precise)? Because i lived there around 5-6 years when I was a kid. Okay that is not a valid reason, it not because you lived in one place the reason that move you to want return to a place, but it can be other things like nostalgy, or a desire to finish unresolved business, visiting friend or searching a old book that you can`t remember the title or the author`s name. In this case the answer is all the reasons explained. Now if i want to live there again I don`t know, maybe… My study`s field is here in Chile, in the desert, it is not a thing you have in Holland and if we are more specific I`m studing prehispanic farmland and canals, again it something that you don`t have in Nederland, that thing can`t preserve in a country where it rains a lot.
