thoughts about the work of an archaeologist

I`m studying archaeology, so the type of job is pretty obvious. How do myself proyect in that field is another thing. At Least in Chile you have two roads: academic research and environmental assessment. Although these fields aren`t exclusive between them in fact it`s difficult to work in both, first  it`s a matter of time, and second usually working in environmental assessment here is it`s seein as if you were a mercenary so if you work in that sometimes it`s more difficult to later working in academic research. Okay I`m not talking about how the FONDESI affect this but is because it`s a matter to complicate.
About the work of an archaeologist, it`s diverse, you have field work (maybe the funniest part)  you must working in a laboratory (in case you must review something so als ceramic, lithics, bones or microrest) and office work, maybe the most  and tedious part but the most important. It`s important to say that tedious is not the same as boring, it`s tedious because the analysis in most of the cases ti`s must do with uttermost caution, and the design of research althought it can be fun it can be quit exhausting.
About me, most of the times I go to the North of our country, especialy in Guatacondo. laboratory work is not a thing i`m doing right now but i`m doing office work, in particular working with GIS.

  1. I think that the work in a laboratory is quite interesting, but maybe a little bit lonely
